Child Right & Protection

Migration Children: Reducing migration in a phase-wise manner. Our intention is the prevention of migration; where possible, and to provide post-migration support to the children intercepted and other dependants of the migrants including livelihood support to the community in the target area.

Our organization has been addressing the migration issue for the last 5 years. We are planning to provide support for making available basic facilities like education, livelihood, drought coping mechanisms, migrants availing government welfare schemes/entitlements, etc.

PARDA has participated and even taken the lead role during the campaign and advocacy of the total literacy Program run by Government and non-government agencies since its inception. In a project sponsored by Action Aid; we had formed migration committees in 30 villages in Nuapada Block. We had also prepared an innovative idea of maintaining a ‘Red Register’ to keep a record of the migrants’ traffic. This was done with the help of the village-level migration committee. We have been continuing the follow-up activities since 2005; after the completion of the project period 2003-05. Since then the activity is going on. But, there was no such provision to retain the children for continuing their school education in their respective villages. But after launching of the program by DPEP/SSA, PARDA Managed 5 Residential care centers retaining 223 children of seasonal migrants in the year 2006-07 and run 10 Residential care centers retaining 376 children of seasonal migrant parents in 2007-08 and Similarly the program during 2008-09 with support of America India Foundation on LAMP project is given below in the table. 393 and 518 children in 15 nos Residential Care centers in the year 2010-11. 5 remedial teaching centers for 102 migrant children in Nuapada district and monitoring and supervision the 45 residential care which was supported by SSA in the year.

PARDA; in tune with its nomenclature, believes that people have a right to a just and equal society. We are committed to making that right a reality for the people on the boarder lines of Indian society.
