Our Works

Migration

Migration is a routine livelihoods strategy in rural Odisha and not simply a response to shocks and extreme vulnerability. Indeed people migrate because there is not enough work in the source of migration but such movement should not be understood only in terms of distress or forced migration, because many people perceived migration as an opportunity.

Adult Literacy Programme

The project looks to enhance the adult literacy rate in Nuapada district that stands much below the state average. The proposed district rank very low in terms of literacy – 48.31% compared to the state average of 72.8%. The female literacy in the region is very low at 37.39%. The illiterate mass in the district is 276,444 – persons who are either functionally illiterate or with little writing, reading or numerical ability.

Do you know, when you make a contribution, what happens??

PARDA- one of the leading voluntary organizations, had taken up many developmental and awareness building programs. Highlights of those are; Livelihood support programme to distress migrant families of 10 GPs of Nuapada district, Consumer protection and awareness Programme in all GPs of Nuapada district. PARDA” had also laid its hands in community-based women empowerment project for their economic development, skill development training to migrants and SHG members, road safety awareness rallies and campaigns have been conducted throughout Nuapada district. Our organization has undertaken the coveted task of implementing a project titled” Smart GP for dignified life making cycle humane” and “skill initiative for informal sector worker‟ with financial support from TATA TRUSTS which makes a unique approach to the migration issue. In the years ahead; I am planning to explore everything possible to make available adequate health and sanitation, quality education and proper care to the distress migrants‟

children and other dependants left behind. Except that a program is going on, on migrants to enable the migrant laborers to avail their rights to live a secured life; which includes education, health, sanitation and hygiene for them and their families; free from exploitation and work with dignity maintaining their own identity. Inadequate nutrition being the prime cause of health problems; I also intend to address the problem by helping the target people fight food shortage. I also dedicate myself to upliftment of the rare tribes in Nuapada district and am planning for their development selflessly before expanding to other areas. I, on behalf of the members of PARDA family sincerely owe my gratitude to District Administration, TATA TRUSTS, NABARD, TCS and all our donor / funding agencies- home and abroad- for their cooperation and help. Thanking all we owe. “God helps those who help others.”
